Location
Sussex County is located in south-central Virginia. This 496 square mile community is bisected by Interstate 95 and is strategically positioned between the Richmond-Petersburg and Hampton Roads metropolitan areas.
Sussex County is 45 miles south of Richmond and 150 miles south of Washington, D.C. Sussex County is part of the Richmond Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The Port of Hampton Roads is 50 miles east.
Demographics
Sussex's labor force is responsible, dedicated and able to adapt to changing technologies. The labor market area includes Virginia's Gateway Region, the southern half of the Richmond-Petersburg metropolitan area and the Hampton Roads metro area, comprising 17 localities in southeastern Virginia.
