Sussex County Convenience Centers

Waste Containers are located at any of the Sussex County's Convenience Centers. Sussex County Residents, who have missed their scheduled trash pick-up or do not receive trash removal services at all, can dispose of their waste at any of the 9 Convenience Centers located throughout Sussex County. Please deposit all waste in plastic bags as to prevent items from being carried away by wind, animals, etc.

NOTICE: Bulk household items and construction and demolition debris are not permitted at the Atlantic Waste Disposal convenience center.  Sussex County residents will be allowed free disposal of bulk household items but must go across the scale and show proof of residency and then will be directed to the landfill disposal area.  The convenience center is under 24-hour surveillance and violators may be prosecuted.

  • Recycling

    • Recycling Containers can be found at Convenience Centers and are located away from the waste containers. Solid recyclable materials are now received in one large Recycling Container and are allowed to be comingled and will be separated by the waste services provider. This should make recycling much simpler for residents; however, some recycled goods should still be "broken down" (i.e. cardboard) and others rinsed (i.e. bottles and cans).
  • Special Waste

    • This category of waste refers to goods that are allowed but will require special attention from the resident to ensure that waste is handled appropriately. The items listed are required to be brought to the landfill located on (Rt. 602) Cabin Point Rd: mattresses, bulky or excessive amounts of furniture and appliances. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners are required to be brought to the landfill so that refrigerants can be removed and disposed of properly. Paints are not received when wet; however, sand or kittylitter can be used to dry paint quickly. Drums must be empty, cleaned and open at both ends to be accepted. Pesticide containers must be triple-rinsed and crushed. Tires must be cut in halves, shreds or chips in order to be received by landfill.

PLEASE NOTE: Construction/Demolition debris may be taken to the landfill but will require a fee for disposal. No exceptions!
